Discover the Alpspitz Splash: The New Summer Attraction in Nesselwang in the Allgäu

The Alpspitzbahn Nesselwang in the Allgäu region is expanding its summer offerings with innovation and adventure. Managing Director Ralf Speck, who successfully ventured into summer tourism a few years ago, proudly presents his new attraction: the Alpspitz Splash, or as faszinatour calls it, “Aqua Chimp” – the first floating ropes course on a snowmaking lake.

A pioneering project in summer tourism

Nesselwang is already known for action-packed summer activities such as the Alpspitzkick (Mega Zipline) and the Alpspitz Coaster (summer toboggan run). Starting in summer 2024, the Alpspitz Splash will join these offerings, enriching them with a water sports attraction.

To date, ten Aqua Chimps have been installed worldwide. However, the Alpspitz Splash sets new standards: it is the first of its kind to be built on a snowmaking lake. “The use of the lake in summer is obvious,” explains Ralf Speck. “It is a more efficient use of infrastructure and personnel, even outside the winter season.”

An experience for the whole family

The Alpspitz Splash's offerings are primarily aimed at families and children. The various difficulty levels and elements provide fun and adventure for all age groups. In addition to classic obstacles, there is also a Ninja Line and a zip line that add extra thrills.

Sustainable and guaranteeing the future

Climate change poses great challenges for Nesselwang, just like many other ski resorts. The number of ski days is expected to continue to decline in the future. It is therefore all the more important to gradually develop summer tourism. The Aqua Chimp, or Alpspitz Splash, is a step in the right direction: "To ensure the future of our ski resort, we must rely on sustainable and innovative concepts," emphasizes Alpspitzbahn Managing Director Ralf Speck.

Exemplary lighthouse project

The Alpspitz Splash is more than just a new attraction – it is a symbol of innovation, the inclusion of all seasons, and the future of summer tourism in the Alps. Ralf Speck knows that the Aqua Chimp is not the sole solution for declining winters. "I see the new attraction as part of the solution. Winters are certainly not getting better, and snow reliability is a thing of the past. It is all the more important to look ahead, rethink, and remain open to new ideas!"
