Zipline Parcours Adventure World Kronberg Innovation and thrills at the highest level

In 2020, a groundbreaking zipline course opened at Kronberg in Switzerland, combining technical mastery with a standout tourist attraction. Featuring 25 ziplines and a concept designed to captivate both families and adventure seekers, this project has set a new benchmark for alpine tourism.

Client’s vision: an innovative zipline park for 'high-flyers'

Following a devastating storm in 2018 that nearly obliterated the old rope park at Kronberg, our client was determined not just to rebuild, but to create something truly extraordinary. The vision went far beyond a simple replacement – the idea was to offer a unique experience that would stand apart from traditional rope parks. The concept of “flying” took centre stage, giving visitors the chance to glide through treetops and experience the stunning landscape from an entirely new perspective.

Initially, the plan was to preserve as many of the existing structures as possible. However, during an on-site inspection, it quickly became clear that this approach wasn’t feasible given the terrain. We proposed an alternative vision: an innovative zipline experience.

The new concept focused on centralising all logistical operations – including entry and exit points, a restaurant, and equipment depot – creating a streamlined, efficient setup. This not only reduced staffing needs but also improved operations and visitor flow management.

The result? A visionary zipline park offering more than just thrills. It’s a truly unique adventure park for high-flyers of all ages, blending adrenaline, innovation, and breathtaking scenery.

Our customised solution: a construction under challenging conditions

This Project Came with Numerous Challenges. The damage to the previous rope park not only required a complete redesign but also demanded strict compliance with regulatory requirements. Multiple reworkings of the plans were necessary to meet these standards and ensure the safety of the new facility.

The construction process was further complicated by local conditions: limited space for entry and exit points, proximity to the cable car, and an adjacent road that had to be carefully considered during planning.

One of the biggest technical challenges, however, was the insufficient load-bearing capacity of the ground for the masts, necessitating specialised foundations to ensure the stability of the structure.

Construction began in spring 2020 – right in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tight material delivery schedules and stringent health regulations turned the build into a true test of endurance. Added to this was the complexity of coordinating plans with multiple parties and trades, much of which had to be done remotely.

Despite all these hurdles, faszinatour successfully completed the zipline course on schedule in August 2020. The facility features 48 masts anchored with various foundation systems to provide maximum stability.

An experience for everyone: adventure, thrills, and fun for all ages

The Zipline Course: A Prime Example of a Park That Appeals to Beginners and Experts Alike. With its five routes offering varying levels of difficulty, the zipline course delivers thrills and fun for everyone – from the beginner-friendly blue route for little ones to more challenging trails for adrenaline seekers.

A standout feature: parallel tracks allow groups and families to motivate and challenge each other, adding an extra layer of excitement. Additional climbing elements throughout the park provide a refreshing change of pace between exhilarating flights.

A tourism milestone: awarded gold

The zipline course at Kronberg is not just a technical marvel but also a standout tourist attraction. Shortly after its opening, the park received multiple gold medals at the prestigious Summer Award 2020. It triumphed in categories such as “Best Children’s Activities,” “Fun & Action,” and “Ideas & Execution,” and was further recognised as the “Rising Star of the Year 2020.”

These accolades underscore the success of the innovative concept, firmly establishing Kronberg as a prime destination for families and adventure enthusiasts. Complementing the zipline course are attractions like the ‘Fairy Tale World’ for younger visitors and the existing alpine coaster, creating a diverse recreational offering that draws guests from Switzerland, Germany, and beyond.

conclusion: a success story of innovation and overcoming challenges

The zipline course at Kronberg stands as a flagship project, embodying the region's innovative spirit and the future of alpine tourism. Through close collaboration with authorities, the bold decision to redesign after the devastating storm, and the integration of cutting-edge technology, faszinatour has created a one-of-a-kind experience that not only meets visitors' expectations but also contributes to the region's long-term success.

With its unique blend of adventure, family-friendliness, and technical excellence, the zipline course at Kronberg is a best-case example of how challenges can be transformed into new opportunities.
